The Neta S is a relatively large sedan introduced at Shanghai Auto in 2021 to compete with the Tesla Model 3. Production started in 2022. The dimensions are 4980/1980/1450 mm, and a wheelbase of 2980 mm. It is longer than the XPeng P7 and the NIO ET5. The drag coefficient is extremely low at 0.216 Cd.
The Neta S sits on Hozon’s ‘Shanhai’ platform. It enables 2750-3100 mm wheelbases, the flexibility to run in front, rear, or four-wheel drive, and EREV and EV versions. The Shanhai platform isn’t specified only for sporty-performance cars. Even MPVs could be based on it.
Coming to the interior, the overall design is simple. The driver has access to an AR-HUD. The size of the large central control vertical screen is 17.6 inches, with a 2.5k resolution. The co-pilot gets a 12.3-inch entertainment screen. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip supports the computing platform.
As for the powertrain, it has two options. The first is EREV with a 1.5-liter elf-aspirated engine that only powers the 43.88-kWh battery. The EREV version has an electric motor on the rear axle for 231 hp and 310 Nm. Its fully electric range reaches 310 km (CLTC). As for the mixed range, it is 1,160 km. The second version is a pure EV. It has two optional batteries for 85 kWh or 91 kWh for 650-715 km of CLTC range. It is available with RWD for 231 hp and 310 Nm or 4WD for 462 horses and 620 Nm.
